Susan became a professional singer after studying at UCW Cardiff, RCM London and the Vienna Academy. Her career covered Opera (WNO, Covent Garden, Kent Opera and various Opera Houses on the Continent), Lieder and Song recitals in the UK, and in Europe, broadcasts with the BBC and several European stations. Her concert and Oratorio work included music of all periods from Early Baroque to contemporary.
She left the country in 1981 to live with her husband Professor Wolfgang Gabriel, accompanist, conductor and composer and, after the birth of their daughter, began her teaching career. Her pupils have come from all over the world and she has taught guest courses in Finland, Spain and annually in Japan. She recently stopped singing herself, to hand over the torch to her daughter Angharad who is already an accomplished young singer.
