‘Merrie England’ by Edward German
This was the tenth concert in the series. There was a varied programme with the main work by Edward German. The conductor was Mr T.R. James; possibly this was the first concert not to have been under the direction of P.E. Phillips. There were four soloists: Isabel Sage (Soprano), Nora Carstairs (Contralto), Andrew Gold (Tenor) and Stanley Pine (Bass), with some parts taken by members of the chorus. The Morgan Lloyd Orchestra was hired for the occasion, and Miss Meudwen Smith was the accompanist.
